Ask a question about this product

A lap seam is a seam variant where the two edges of the fabric are folded in opposite directions so that both cut edges are concealed inside the seam.

This type of seam is widely used for heavy and rough fabrics such as denim or canvas, but can be used for most cotton fabrics. (not suitable for knit/stretch fabrics)

How to create the lap seam
1. Set the Eight Thread or Coverstitch Machine to the required Coverstitch settings.
2. Set the fabric A with right side visible and then push the fabric forward and up until the fabric A folds up into the binder.
3. Set the fabric B with right side visible and place to the right of the binder, then push the fabric forward into the binder until the bottom folds under fabric A .
4. Lower the presser foot down onto both fabrics.
5. Hold both fabric A & B and slowly stitch together to create the lap seam.
Available for: Gloria (BLETS8), Ovation (BLES8), Coverstitch (BLCS)
